REDLANDS, Colo. Rain storms have brought flooding into Grand Valley neighborhoods this summer, so a new construction project is working to fix the problem for one area.

The City of Grand Junction and Redlands Power and Water are widening drainage ditches along South Camp Road between Altamira Court and Standing Rock Drive.

"They get a pretty good wall of water coming down and this property has always had problems with flooding because the ditch narrows down quite a bit through here," said Chris Spears, a supervisor for Grand Junction street systems.

The project should ease drainage flow next to a property that has been hit by flooding multiple times and will also improve the drainage system to match that of a newer development up the road.

The construction should continue through the end of next week.
