MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO) -- The Montrose County Coroner has released new information about a missing hiker found dead last week.
Marion Byrd Gamble, Jr. was discovered in the Red Truck Draw/Tomichi area, 1,000 feet below the Black Canyon's south rim in the Gunnison National Park.
The coroner says the death was an accident, and the hiker died from multiple traumatic injuries secondary to a fall.
Rangers started looking for the man after they found his car at a trailhead on April 7. The man had purchased a permit that showed he should have left the park by April 6.
Rescue crews took some time recovering the body because they were hampered by a late-winter storm that reduced visibility and made it hard to access.
