GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - If you have a loved one serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, you only have until Saturday, December 4th to send their holiday packages so they arrive on time.
The holidays are always a hectic time for the U.S. Post Office, so package deadlines are necessary to make sure everything arrives on time. And some people are already getting a head start on holiday shipping.
"Typically it starts a little bit later. We don't normally see it till the end of the first week of December. But this week it's been noticeably higher than it has in the past," says Daniel Reyes, Grand Junction postmaster.
These are the deadlines to remember:
December 4- Holiday mail sent to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan
December 19- Holiday mail sent to other overseas U.S. military sites
December 20- Holiday mail sent by regular mail to out-of-state U.S. locations
December 22- Holiday mail sent by regular mail in-state and for Express Mail letters and packages sent across the U.S.
