GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- KKCO 11 News viewers are warning people about a debit card scam targeting the Grand Valley.
One viewer, Angela Gross, says that she got a call from 954-719-6383, telling her that her debit card has been locked.
After a few steps during the phone call to get it unlocked, she was asked to enter her card number. She refused and hung up.
Gross then called her bank to check it out. She learned her card was not locked and there was nothing wrong with her account.
KKCO 11 News contacted the Grand Junction Police Department about reports of similar experiences, and public information officer Kate Porras says unfortunately, this type of scam is very common.
She says you should never give someone bank or account information over the phone. Be skeptical of any offers that require you to act immediately or pay money.
