DENVER (KKCO) -- Colorado's only international airport is getting high praise for its domestic flights, and that's good news for residents looking to fly away for the summer.
Denver was ranked the #1 departure city for domestic travel in the U.S. by CardHub.com, a credit card comparison website. That means its airport is the most convenient in terms of average time and money spent flying to another city within the country.
Colorado's capitol beat out Dallas (#2), Chicago (#3), Detroit (#4), and Las Vegas (#5).
For overall international and domestic travel, Denver ranked #12 in the nation.
To create the rankings, CardHub used data from the Travel Leaders Group, U.S. Census Bureau and Kayak.com. Analysts looked at the cost and duration of the cheapest flight, cost and duration of the shortest flight and the number of connections.
