DENVER (AP) The Catholic archbishop of Denver and other religious leaders in the city are asking President Obama to stop Iraqi militants threatening Christians in Iraq.
Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila and the leaders are set to sign a statement Monday morning asking the president to work through both diplomatic channels and "ethical intervention" to protect Christians as well as Jews and Muslims in the Middle East. It will also call on all religious leaders to advocate for the safety and the right to exist of for all Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities in the region.
In the evening, they plan to gather for an interfaith prayer service at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
