The Roice Hurst Humane Society is missing a furry friend today after a dog was stolen last Monday.
Officials with Roice Hurst say Derringer was a female chihuahua who was stolen after only spending one night at the shelter.
They say if you can't afford to purchase the pet, you definitely can't afford to care for it.
"The saddest thing about a puppy being stolen from our shelter is you're actually depriving the animal," says Roice Hurst Animal Care Manager, Lea Owens.
All animals adopted from Roice Hurst are spayed or neutered, given heart worm tests and all of their necessary vaccinations.
Roice Hurst officials say they've stepped up efforts to ensure this never happens again.
