GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - You can help Colorado's future musicians improve their talent by donating any instruments in good condition to the annual instrument drive.
Colorado Public Radio collects band and orchestra instruments throughout the state. The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra has partnered with the organization the last four years as a drop-off site for the Western Slope.
"People that aren't playing their instruments, they're just sitting in their garage or in their basement, they bring them to us, and then they're taken to the Front Range where they're repaired," said Jeremy Herigstad with the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra. "Then they hand them out to schools around the state."
Collection continues through March 16. They accept anything from ukuleles and trumpets to flutes and violins. Since the start of the drive, nearly 60 instruments have made their way back to District 51.
