FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) -- The heart of Fruita is getting a facelift. According to officials, in 2012 Fruita City Council set a goal to develop the full potential of Fruita's downtown.

The city appointed a downtown advisory board to work alongside parks and rec to make improvements downtown.

"One of the improvements we are looking at is improving the street-scape and associated parking and issues like that. And another improvement that is being discussed is improvements to the Civic Center Memorial Park," said Clint Kinney, Fruita City Manager.

Officials are working on bringing in a design firm that will work with local businesses and advisory boards to create ideas. The city plans on taking those ideas to local businesses and will hold public hearings. Organizers want as much public input as possible in order to develop the best plan for making changes to Fruita's downtown.
