Ex-midshipman arrested in Boulder on sex charge

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Police in Boulder have arrested a former Naval Academy midshipman accused of posing as a teen girl online to get other girls to send him sexually explicit photos.

The Daily Camera reports (http://bit.ly/1cTtbgf ) that according to court records, police said they found more than 20 sexually graphic images of children on Bret Butler's cellphone and computers.

Butler was being held Friday on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child. His bond was set at $200,000.

Naval Academy spokesman John Schofield says Butler hasn't been enrolled at the school since December.

University of Colorado, Boulder spokesman Bronson Hilliard says Butler took courses at CU as an "unclassified non-degree student" this past spring.

Online jail records don't indicate whether Butler has a lawyer who could comment on the allegations.
