GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Are leaves piling up in front of your yard? This is your chance to get rid of them! The Annual Fall Leaf Pick-Up Programs will begin tomorrow, Oct. 14.
Post cards were mailed to Grand Junction city residents a couple weeks ago. Printed on the back of these cards are the four rake-out dates scheduled for each household’s assigned pick-up area.
Residents who choose to participate should have leaves piled up in front of their house, on the street, 18 inches away from the curb or on the pavement. Leaves need to be on the street at 7 a.m. of the scheduled rake-out day for your area. Leaves should be picked up on that date or by the end of the next business day.
If you prefer to bag your leaves, there will be several dates to bring bagged leaves to the City Municipal Services Center. The drop-off site will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 16, Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.
The purpose of this program is to eliminate excess leaf build-up along the City Streets that causes storm water drains to clog.
