Clifton, Colo (KKCO) --- Grand Mesa Middle School may not have students roaming the halls this summer, but instead are being replaced by firefighters.
The Rocky Mountain Coordination Center requested help from the Oregon Incident Management Team to come to the Western Slope and set up a Mobilization Center at the school in preparation for the next wildfire.
This center will act as a staging area for resources where 300 to 400 firefighters will camp out for weeks waiting to get called out to a fire in Colorado or in any other neighboring states.
