GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- A dog is safe with its owners again after firefighters rescue it while knocking down an attic fire.
Four Grand Junction Fire Department engines responded to reports of smoke in the 2200 block of Tiffany Court around 2:30 p.m. Friday. At a home, they found heavy smoke and fire in the attic, GJFD Public Information Officer Mike Page says.
All the residents were able to evacuate without any injuries, but their dog was left inside. Firefighters were able to get it out before it was hurt.
Investigators believe the fire started outside the house, then spread into the attic, according to Page. The cause is still under investigation.
The damage from the fire was minimal, but the house got some knicks as crews tried to break into the house to access the flames.
“Other than some small holes in the ceiling from trying to find fire inside, the interior’s pretty clear,” said Page.
