GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) As the weather gets colder residents are looking for hearty meals to fill their pantries with, but not all families can afford to do so.
However, the Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies is helping that happen more often after it was awarded a contract to distribute food to low income Mesa County residents once a month rather than once every four months.
Food stamps will be cut on November 1st and officials say they are trying to help make the transition easier by offering locals more chances to get food.
The food bank has not made a permanent location for their monthly distribution and officials suggest residents to call (970) 464-1138 after November 15th to get information on the next distribution site.
