Fourth of July Activities

WESTERN SLOPE, Colo. Looking for something fun to do on the 4th? Check out these activities going on around our area!

Grand Junction - Independence Day Party at the Senior Center - July 3rd at 10:00 a.m. - Stop on by the Senior Recreation Center at 550 Ouray Avenue in Grand Junction for their annual Independence Day Party! Admission is $3.00 if tickets are bought in advance or $5.00 at the door.

Independence Day Parade - Begins at 10:00 a.m. on Main Street in Downtown Grand Junction.

Celebration at the Pool - Celebrate the 4th of July at Lincoln Park Pool! Admission is $2.38 per person for all ages.

Grand Junction Rockies - The Grand Junction Rockies take on the Orem Owlz at 7:05 p.m. on the 4th. Tickets are available at the link to the right.

FIREWORKS - At Lincoln Park after the Grand Junction Rockies game. The show starts after the sun goes down!

Gun Show by JC Productions - July 4-6 - Swing by the Mesa County Fairgrounds Community Building at 2785 U.S. 50 in Grand Junction for JC Productions' gun show! Admission is $5.00 per adult, doors open at 4:00 p.m. on the 4th, and 9:00 a.m. on the 5th and 6th.

Palisade - Independence Day Parade - The parade will start in downtown Palisade at 9:00 a.m., but folks should arrive by 8:30 a.m. to line up. After the parade there will be food and games at Palisade Memorial Park!

Ice Cream Social, Concert, and Fireworks in Fruita - July 3rd, 7:30 p.m. - Come out and get in the 4th of July spirit with a free concert performance by Finnders and Youngberg! The celebration is at the Civic Center Pavilion in downtown Fruita. The event is free and the night will include Fruita's annual City Council Ice Cream Social.

End your night with the annual fireworks show! Recommended viewing locations include: James M. Robb Colorado River State Park, Kokopelli Shopping Center, Chamber of Commerce's Young Professionals parking lot behind the La Quinta Hotel, Rim Rock Adventures, Fruita Coop Country, or a local park.

68th Annual Cherry Days, Paonia - July 4-6 - Paonia Cherry Days is one of the oldest, continuaously-running, annual outdoor festivals in Colorado. Activities include a parade, pie-eating contest, vendors, artists and craftsmen, musical entertainment, a 5K run/walk, and of course fireworks!

Montrose Fourth of July Parade - 10:00 a.m. - Come out and enjoy all the fun that Montrose has to offer! Main in Motion will immediately follow the parade as part of the celebration.

Gunnison - Activities begin with an early-morning launch of hot air balloons at Jorgensen Park from 5:30 - 6:00 a.m. The 34th annual Good Time Rally and Cross Country Race features an array of colorful balloons that launch each morning on July 4-6.

The 63rd annual Gunnison Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration kicks off at Jorgenson Park at 4:00 p.m. Activities include a beer garden, food court, face painting, a bouncy house, and Slip N' Slides all organized by the City of Gunnison. There will also be music from Two Faces West from 4-6 p.m. and Grand Farm from 6:30-8:30 p.m..

Military veterans will be honored just before the fireworks fly at 9:15 p.m.

Crested Butte - Crested Butte Fire Station hosts its annual Pancake Breakfast from 7:00 - 10:00 a.m. After that, a food court will be open offering an abundance of tasty treats.

The 46th annual Gothic to Crested Butte Run, Walk or Crawl 1/3 Marathon begins at 8:00 a.m. in Gothic at Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, and ends in downtown Crested Butte. Online registration is available at the link to the right.

Crested Butte's July 4th Parade begins at 11:00 a.m. on Elk Avenue. Expect funky, fun, and good-natured laughter! But if getting wet isn't your idea of fun, stay away from the first block of Elk because after the parade it turns into a wet zone for a big water fight.

Wrap up the 4th with a free evening bluegrass performance and fireworks in Mt. Crested Butte. Starting at 7:00 p.m., Yarn will take the stage joined by Drew Emmitt. Fireworks will begin at dusk.
