GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Above average temperatures and sunny skies made for a beautiful day on Monday, and many people took the opportunity to enjoy some time outside.

Lines to get into the Colorado National Monument started early and were long at times.

But those who took the time to wait, got a nice surprise, free entry,

The National Monument was one of eight parks in Colorado and more than 100 across the country that participated in the free entry.

Annual passes were still on sale and prices go back to normal tomorrow.
