GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Dozens of residents are learning a new skill after a one-day bow hunter education class in Fruita.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife offered the bow hunting course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Horsethief Canyon State Wildlife Area.
The session taught students of all ages about bow hunting strategies, safety, and ethics.
At the end of the course, all participants received their own Bow Hunter Education Card that traveling hunters might find useful.
"The bowhunter ed training is not mandatory in the state of Colorado but it is mandatory in states such as Nebraska, South Dakota, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, most of the Canadian providences and then in 20 or more of the states east of the Mississippi River," said Don Biesecker, a bow hunter instructor.
