GRAND JUNCTION The sun is starting to shine a little more and more each day and the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce took the opportunity to talk about solar energy.
They hosted Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association (COSEIA) to talk about their past progress and future goals.
Recently the Executive Director of COSEIA, Rebecca Cantwell, got to see a entire subdivision built with solar roofing. The efforts have been made easier over the last few years as the price of panels has dropped 60%.
"I just can't imagine a better way to prepare for the future than to be providing a lot of solar energy for our future generations," Cantwell said.
The energy source saves hundreds of millions of gallons water and emits no pollution to the air.
COSEIA's goal is to see 1 million homes in Colorado with solar roofs by 2030. homes that have switched to solar energy have even seen utilities bills as low as $40 a month.
