GJ Lions Club recognizes student athletes

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction Lions Club recognizes Western Slope high school students for their athletic and scholastic accomplishments.

Eight student athletes from each area high school were honored at their second annual grand valley student athlete ceremony held at the Two Rivers Convention Center.

Students were selected for the awards by their teachers, coaches, and administrators that know them best.

“It’s important to us at the Lions Club that we encourage student athletes to give back to their community as they go on to the next journey of their lives,” says Ky Oday of the Grand Junction Lions Club.

Each student-athlete recipient was presented with a plaque at Tuesday's ceremony and selected a non-profit organization to which the Grand Junction Lions Club will donate $250 dollars in their name.
