GJ business celebrates recycling day

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Local businesses are encouraging you to think twice about where you put your waste.

Thursday was Grand Junction Recycles Day, previewing with America Recycles Day on Saturday.

E-Waste Recyclers of Colorado is a Grand Junction business hoping to decrease the amount of garbage in landfills.

CEO Ken Burns says Colorado is one of the worst states for recycling, so by offering free recycling of electronics, he's hoping to change that.

"I don't go out to the shooting range anymore and see as many televisions anymore,” said Burns, “and that's what matters to me, is keeping the environment clean for my children so that in the future they have somewhere nice to live also. And this is a beautiful place we live in, and if we don't take care of it, it's not going to be somewhere for our children's children to enjoy."

This Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., E-Waste Recyclers is teaming up with other sustainable businesses to celebrate America Recylces Day.

It will be located at E-Waste Recyclers on 1027 S. 7th Street. You're encouraged to bring your electronics to be safely recycled.
