GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Mesa County is being branded in an effort to shape the area's reputation and attract businesses and entrepreneurs.
The Grand Junction Economic Partnership hosted its annual meeting Thursday with 300 attendants.
The organization discussed Mesa County's new brand, "The New West: modern, independent, still wild," and what it means for improving the area's economy.
"Really reach a whole new audience of entrepreneurs, businesses," said Kelly Flenniken, GJEP's executive director. "Hope that we can find some businesses or people that would like relocate or expand into our community."
The meeting's keynote speaker, Aaron Kennedy, was instrumental in the creation of Colorado's new state brand.
"We're trying to figure out how we can really strengthen our collaborative relationship with the states so that our brand can really work in tandem with the statewide brand," Flenniken said.
GJEP also shared some of its accomplishments from the year with meeting guests. Among them was showing a managing editor from Site Selection magazine around town during the weekend of the Grand Junction Off-Road, working with the Visitor and Convention Bureau to put up a billboard in New York City's Times Square and also helping with the expansion of West Star Aviation.
