Grand Junction, Colo. -- The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a report of a chimney and possible structure fire at 201 Vencino Drive.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene around 10:50 p.m. and reported smoke from the eves and evacuated neighboring homes.
The fire was then attacked from the interior, pulling ceiling down to access the fire in the attic. A partial roof collapse and high winds accelerated the fire spread. A coordinated attack contained the fire to the family room and kitchen of the home with an estimated damage of $50,000 to the structure and $30,000 to affected contents.
No injuries were reported to either occupants or firefighters. The fire is still under investigation.
