GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. An officer involved shooting leaves one man dead in a Grand Junction neighborhood on Monday afternoon.
At approximately 12:05 P.M. on Monday, Grand Junction police officers were called to the 1700 block of Grand Avenue to remove a person that was outside of a home.
Officers contacted the suspect who was inside a vehicle and shots were subsequently fired.
Two officers were involved in the shooting and are now on administrative leave.
“I heard some shots, and I just started walking back, and then I came here and cops here and it looked like two dead bodies over there,” says Alex Duvall, a resident of Grand Avenue.
As with all officer involved shootings in Mesa County, the Critical Response Team for the 21st Judicial District are carrying on the investigation from this point forward.
Authorities don't expect to have any further updates on the investigation until investigators complete interviews, the autopsy is conducted, and the gun found in the car is analyzed.
