GJPD needs help to ID forgery suspect

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- A suspected forger may be purchasing items with counterfeit money, and police are asking for the public's help to identify him.

Grand Junction Police Department spokesperson Kate Porras says the unidentified man tried to used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for a $10 meal at the Taco Bell near Mesa Mall on May 1 around 2:45 p.m.

Employees recognized the bill as a fake, and when they told the suspect it was counterfeit, he left the restaurant.

If you know the man in the photo or anything about the incident, you're asked to call the GJPD at 242-6707, call Crime Stoppers at 241-STOP, or text CRIMES to 241STOP and include the tip information.
