Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – Colorado Mesa students are getting ready to start classes for the fall semester and first year students will have a new residence hall.
Garfield Hall is located on Cannell Avenue. All the rooms will be furnished with Wi-Fi for the new students. However, officials say the residence hall will have a different feel than the current halls on campus.
"Garfield Hall is kind of a throwback; it's a modern version of an old style dormitory. You're going to see community bathrooms, you're going to see study lounges, TV lounges. This facility will house 208 freshmen so we're really excited to get them on campus," says Dana Nunn, Media Relations Director for CMU.
Currently the finishing touches are being made to the hall including landscaping, and laying down asphalt for the parking lot.
Garfield Hall is the first of four planned residence halls that will make up an area known as the Renaissance Village.
