GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Local girl scouts are opening their minds to learn about how others their age live across the world.

17 Grand Valley girl scout troops celebrated Thinking Day, a worldwide educational effort.

Girls put together presentations on 15 countries to find out what girl scouting is like outside of the United States.

The event also focused on what education systems are like around the world.

Troop leaders said the event presents local girl scouts an opportunity to mingle with other troops in the area, while also learning about other cultures.
