Montrose church holds candlelight vigil for shooting victims

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – Grace Community Church in Montrose gathers on Thursday night to pray for and support those affected by the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.

They gathered in a large numbers and packed the lunch room at Montrose High School.

Two students lit candles in honor of the victims, as the community took a moment of silence.

Those in attendance wore green and white ribbons and came together in prayer and hope that tragedies like the one at Sandy Hook Elementary stop.

"I think what’s happening in Connecticut affects all of us. I don’t think anyone is exempt. So I think that we all have questions, and I think we all have responsibilities to do our best not to allow that to happen. So as the church we're doing what we know how to do that's pray, that's bring hope, that's to show God's love to others,” says Senior Pastor of Grace Community Church Karl Leuthauser.

Flyers were handed out with information on how to talk to your kids about the tragedy.
