Grammy nominee hits the stage in GJ

Looking for something to do this weekend? How about checking out a Grammy- nominated artist, and doing some good at the same time?

David Lanz is known throughout the world for his role in forging the New Age music movement twenty years ago. Saturday night, Lanz will be performing a solo piano concert right here in Grand Junction, with part of the proceeds benefiting the Marsha Thomas endowment fund.

For Lanz, it will be his first stop here, and he told KKCO 11 News that he's excited to play for the community.

"The music is romantic, at times it gets a bit rockus, and I'm kind of a frustrated stand-up comedian, so there's a lot of comedy, so I like to say I like to make ‘em laugh, make ‘em cry," he said. “We were downtown (Friday) and had a great lunch, the people have been real friendly."

If you'd like to go, the concert is Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in the CMU recital hall.

Tickets start at $20 for general admission. Golden Concert Tickets are $45, and include preferred seating, a private wine reception and an autographed CD.
