Grand Junction man recalls being on JFK security detail

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- 50 years ago today, the world changed in the blink of an eye after the violent and abrupt end to the Kennedy presidency.

A beautiful fall day in Dallas, Texas gave way to darkness and tragedy after the brutal assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in Dealy Plaza.

Grand Junction resident Gerald Blaine not only knew President and Mrs. Kennedy he was hired to guard and protect the president. As a retired secret service agent for Presidents Dwight Eisenhower and Kennedy Blaine wrote "The Kennedy Detail," which he says is an attempt to reclaim the truth about November 22, 1963 from conspiracy theorists who he says hijacked the truth.
