SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) -- Several people are reported to be wounded after someone opened fire near the campus of California's Santa Monica College today.

Police say the wounded include the shooter, who is reported to be in custody. There's no word on the extent of the wounds.

They say witnesses called to report that the shooting began with a man on a street corner firing shots at vehicles, including a bus.

A police spokesman says officers have been searching the campus itself after witnesses said there may have been a second shooter who fled onto the campus. But those reports are unconfirmed.

The college is about 3 miles from where President Barack Obama was attending a fundraiser this afternoon. A Secret Service spokesman says the agency is aware of the shooting but it has had no impact on the president's event.
