GRAND JUNCTION Governor Hickenlooper had a busy schedule on the Western Slope today. After taking a look at the mud slide he headed to the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce to sign a couple of bills into law.

Dozens of community members gathered to witness the event. One bill concerned the development of hydroelectric energy and the other will allow Parks and Wildlife to purchase property for a multi-use shooting range. The Cameo Shooting Sports and Outdoor Education Complex is a project that has been in the making for years.

"This is great to celebrate, but this really is just the beginning and the beginning will be the range development, and partners, and seeing kids and seeing families out there," Colorado Parks and Wildlife Director Bob Broscheid said.

The facility will meet the need for a clean, safe place to shoot and will draw thousands of users from all over the state and country.
On top of recreation the complex will be used for outdoor education classes.
It will be built on lands currently owned by Xcel Energy and Snowcap Coal Company near Palisade.
