OURAY, Colo. (KKCO) -- Gov. John Hickenlooper continues his trip around the state, signing bills into law after a contentious legislative session.
Thursday afternoon, the governor will be in Ouray to sign the new School Resources Bill (SB 13-138).
The measure, which was sponsored by Senator Steve King, defines the role of school resource officers and community partners in keeping children safe while on campus.
It also requires that the school safety resource center contract a full-time grant writer to help secure funding for school safety measures. Under the bill, the center will have to provide suggestions concerning training for school resource officers.
Hickenlooper will be at the Ouray School for the signing.
