GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Senior citizens and their families are looking at their options for the future and Hilltop is working to ease the decision-making process.
"Very important to prepare now, so you don't do anything planning by crisis," said Laura Miller, who visited Hilltop with her husband.
Hilltop hosted its annual holiday open house Saturday, offering seniors the chance to not only get some information about the facilities, but also take a comprehensive tour.
"I think a lot of it is seeing is believing," said Mike Green, marketing and communications director for Hilltop. "I think a lot of people have ideas in their heads. Once you walk into these buildings you realize, it's just a beautiful apartment building."
Employees gave tours of common areas and different types of rooms based on size and level of care offered from independent-living apartments to 24 hour companion care.
"When the need becomes more necessary, you have something in the same building and the same place," Miller said.
Green said they host the open house during the holidays to bring in families who are visiting older loved ones.
Hilltop offers tours of its facilities during the week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
