House and car go up in flames in Fruita

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A home in Fruita is a complete loss after an early-morning fire engulfs both the house and a nearby car.

Lower Valley Fire Department responded just after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning to a duplex in the 600 block of Ottley Avenue.

When crews arrived the house was fully involved with visible flames and an adjacent car was also burning.

Fire Chief Frank Cavaliere says the fire started in the front of one unit, which is a complete loss, and spread to the other causing significant smoke, water, and fire damage.

One person was injured in the fire, however information regarding the severity of his injuries have not been released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
