How to better deal with finals stress

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - It's the end of the school year, but before Colorado Mesa students break for the summer, they have to deal with the stress of finals.

Often students and business professionals, when faced with something like finals or a business presentation, resort to bad eating habits and consuming over-the-counter energy supplements.

Nutritionists say it's better to go back to the basics, drink water and stick to a healthy diet for sustainable energy.

"It's okay to have a little caffeine in the morning or something like that," said Jessica Stieler, registered dietitian, "but having it all day long, that's going to really take its toll. Also, eating sugary foods, snacks and drinks might make us feel really high energy for a moment, but then we kind of crash and are more tired in the end."

Nutritionists also say it's important to take breaks while studying or preparing for a presentation. They recommend going for a walk or making a meal.
