Ice bucket challenge takes over the Western Slope

FRUITA,Colo. It's the challenge heard around the world and it's still going strong and has now raised more than $53.3 million for the association that started it all.

The ALS ice bucket challenge brought several groups of people out on Saturday to raise money for the debilitating disease.

The Fruita Monument High School Marching Band got in on the action today taking more than $580 dollars out of their own pockets sending band director Ryan Crabtree under the ice cold water.

"I'm so proud of these kids, they're very giving, they're very selfless and them, and giving all that money speaks to that," said Crabtree.

The marching band weren't the only ones dropping the chilly water on themselves more than 20 members of the Condit family came together to rally around one of their own who has been battling ALS for the past 5 years.

Dan Condit and his family are trying to raise enough money to buy a wheelchair accessible van. If you are interested in donating to the Condit family visit their website www.youcaring.com/iranfordan.
