Intoxicated driver charged with vehicular homicide after desert rollover

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The driver of a car that rolled over in the North Fruita desert killing 18-year-old Lydia Perez was formally charged on Tuesday.

20-year-old Alexis Perez, Lydia's cousin, has been released from jail on bond, but appeared in court to hear the charges she faces.

She's charged with seven counts, including vehicular homicide, DUI, possession of marijuana, and driving without a license.

According to authorities, Perez was driving when she lost control of the vehicle. The car rolled one and half times ejecting Lydia Perez.

She was not wearing a seatbelt and left behind an 11 month old child.
