Investigators searching for missing Loma woman

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The Mesa County Search and Rescue team is trying to locate a woman from Loma who went missing Saturday.

Authorities say 62-year-old Roxanne Kostka was last seen on 14 or 15 Road near M Road.

Kostka is described as a white woman, about 5’3 tall, with short brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white jacket. She also has difficulty walking.

    "J" no I am not with SAR but was when I was younger with a SAR unit in the midwest. I am retired here now but know and talk to people that are. As for being certified I ment by a SAR Entity for SAR Operations like SARDOC. I am praying that Roxanne is found safe as well. Just read on KREX a comment and will sign off with that; those that arm chair quarterback need to step up and volunteer themselves with SAR, get involved or stop telling them what they do wrong all the time.

    Anonymus, Where are these other hounds from? Where they hounds or Bloodhounds? FYI Bloodhounds are NOT certified.

    "Jody" I did check they do not have bloodhounds. There is a volunteer associated to the agency with a hound but she is not with Search & Rescue and is not certified. Maybe they didn't call her because they already had other dogs there including hounds. Any good handler will tell you that you can have too many dogs on a search, causing issues amongst dogs.

    Brian, You might want to check your facts, the Mesa County Sheriff's Department does have bloodhounds. They have been on KKCO numerous times.

    "Anti" the Sheriff's Office does not have bloodhounds. There were SARC Dogs being used and several hounds from Garfield County were being used.

    Why aren't the sheriff bloodhounds being used?
