GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The first pitch is Saturday morning...the Junior College World Series is upon us ...but if you're headed out to the field, be careful where you park your car.
There's plenty of seats in the stands, but not enough spaces in the lots, and it's got residents in the area around Suplizio Field worried.
Parking at Suplizio is first come first serve, and officials urge everyone to only park in designated spots or you might just find a ticket on your dashboard.
"We'll have officers that are assigned just to JUCO in addition to our regular patrols around the city,” says Kate Porras of the Grand Junction Police Department.
The police department has also partnered with Grand Junction Parks and Rec to help in their efforts to keep parking violations under control.
Some additional tips if you're parking outside the stadium: avoid parking in front of fire hydrants and leave at least five feet of space so residents can get in and out of their driveways safely.
Parking violations can run anywhere between $20 and $75 dollars which is the price of standard parking ticket around the city.
If you want to avoid the parking madness altogether, Grand Valley Transit is providing shuttles to help alleviate JUCO traffic.
The shuttle is free for anyone with a tournament pass or single-game ticket to any of the JUCO games.
