Grand Junction, Colo (KKCO) --- Local hotels experienced a drop in bookings in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the first quarter of 2012 due to declines in corporate travel.
The JUCO World Series, which brings nearly 600 people to Grand Junction every year, is expected to help recover some of the money not made in the first few months of this year.
Debbie Kohvalik, of the Grand Junction Visitor Center, said the economic impact model for JUCO suggests the series brings in $750,000 for local businesses.
Staff at Best Western said they have already started filling up rooms for the upcoming event and expect to have no vacancies during that week.
