BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Oscar-winning actress Julie Andrews has been chosen as the commencement speaker for the University of Colorado, Boulder this spring.
The commencement ceremony is May 10.
The Senior Class Council is in charge of selecting a commencement speaker each year. Sosi Papazian of the Senior Class Council tells the Daily Camera that Andrews is delivering the speech as a favor to CU.
The university doesn't pay commencement speakers.
Papazian says Andrews is noble, well-spoken, respected and who has worked to better society.
Andrews starred in "Mary Poppins," "The Sound of Music" and more recently "The Princess Diaries," among other films.
