DELTA, Colo. A Delta dairy plant decides to close its doors and takes many jobs away from the Western Slope.
Dean Foods, owner of Meadow Gold, announced earlier last week they will be shutting down their Delta processing plant and scaling back their Grand Junction distribution plant.
The upcoming closure was prompted by the decision of one of their major grocer customers moving to their own in-house production center.
Over forty workers will be left without jobs between both facilities.
The loss of one of Delta's larger processing plants will be a major hit to the already struggling Delta job market.
The company stresses that these layoffs are not a reflection of their workers, but rather an effort to remove redunancy in their operations.
