Lawmaker mulls bill to post officers at schools

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) -- King told The Daily Sentinel (Grand Junction) (http://bit.ly/RL6Ngl ) in a story published Saturday that his measure would provide some state aid for resource officers, but the bulk of the money would come from the school district and the local community.

King made his comments Friday following National Rifle Association Chief Executive Officer Wayne LaPierre's call for Congress to place an armed police officer in every school across the country.

Grand Junction Police Chief John Camper says the NRA's proposal has merit, but raises questions that include whether the community wants an armed officer at every school.

I definately agree with Steve King about putting armed police officers in and outside of schools nationwide to prevent another school shooting from happening again . We need to toughen up our school security measures more since this serious issue has been and has been raising eyebrows .

I definately agree with Steve King on this issue . After what happened at Conneticuit at the school I feel like that they need to put armed police officers at and in every school across the entire United States now to help prevent another incident like this from happening again . Yes we need to toughen up on school security .
