Colorado State Patrol says the two troopers involved in the 2010 shooting death of Jason Kemp have been fired.

State patrol captain Jeff Goodwin tells KKCO 11 News the two men were told about the decision yesterday in a meeting.

Corporal Kirk Firko and trooper Ivan Lawyer were investigating a traffic accident when Lawyer said he struggled with Kemp and shot him because he thought he had a weapon. Further investigation showed Kemp was unarmed.

Captain Goodwin tells us it's a personnel matter and no other information can be released about why the men were fired.
