GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- A local law firm is helping residents get a handle on how newly passed gun legislation will impact them and their estate plans.

Thursday night, you can know more about the new rules about transferring ownership of firearms now illegal in our state.

The lawyers of Brown and Brown will also talk about the background checks now required for transfers between private citizens.

The class is free and open to the public from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., but you do need to RSVP. Call 243-8250 to register.

Organizers say the new laws make substantial changes to how residents can sell or gift firearms, and they encourage everyone with a gun to attend.
