Library hours changing around the Grand Valley

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The hours of operation at three Mesa County Libraries are changing as of Monday.

Hours at the Orchard Mesa, Palisade, and Fruita branches have been amended, but all other hours at other Mesa County Libraries locations will remain the same.

The Orchard Mesa branch will be closed on Monday to allow the library staff to focus on programming and outreach to children across the district. Palisade's branch will close at lunch time for the same purpose.

Earlier closing times on certain days is the result of sparse use by patrons during evening hours. Roughly two years ago, Mesa County Libraries kept certain branches open until 8:00 p.m. one night per week for those found the evening a more convenient time to visit; however, visitor numbers have not shown a strong demand for the later hours.
