GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – For some football lovers, today is more than just game day; it's the best day of the year.

Along with a great game comes food, friends and lots of drinking.

It's hit or miss for some restaurants as far as an increase in business; some have even chosen to close their doors due to slow business today.

But for liquor stores, it's usually a hit.

"We opened the doors at ten and had people coming in all morning. The busy weekend started around Friday afternoon and it just kind of continued to be steady. People are getting ready for their super bowl parties," said Meaghan Loyd, Fisher’s Liquor Barn.

Staff at Fisher's Liquor Barn says this busy weekend is a continuation from the Christmas season; but they stock up more heavily on beer for this busy football weekend.

The staff also says it will see another rush during the halftime break for house parties stocking back up.
