GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A group of seniors are fundraising their way to the national competition this summer.
The Grand Junction Golden Age Games team held its annual silent auction at Mesa Mall Saturday.
Donated items like gift cards, handmade blankets and more were auctioned off.
The team has 15 veterans ages 55 and up looking to go to Arkansas for a national competition at the end of June.
"A lot of us are on limited income, so we're unable to pay our own way and fundraising helps all the veterans who want to go to get there," said Emma Folnsbee, the team's captain.
The trip costs $1,000 a person, which is about how much the silent auction usually raises.
The team will be hosting other fundraisers throughout the coming months to fund other team members.
