GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. The week of May 12 - May 18 is American Craft Beer Week.
There are more than 2,800 small and independent breweries in the U.S and 10% of those are represented in Colorado.
Kannah Creek Brewing Company in Grand Junction is well known in the area and is celebrating craft beer week with several different events.
Monday the brewery tapped a Carmel Apple Firkin, which is a special type of beer that requires an extra process.
Head brewer for Kannah Creek, Pete Jeffryes, said it's exciting time to be a craft brewery in Colorado, and he is excited to share new beers with residents. “To me making craft beer in Western Colorado is an important distinction, I'm proud of the whole state but I'm really proud to be over here as well.”
Tuesday the company is pairing artisanal pizzas with 5 different craft beers that they make in a special event, anyone who would like to attend these pairings needs to sign up at Kannah Creek.
The event starts at 5:30 and is limited to 20 people.
