GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. The Mesa Land Trust is one step closer to acquiring the money needed for the Bookends Trail project after several local businesses came together on Sunday for a fundraiser.
The Main Street Bagel Cafe donated 10% of their profits for the day to help fund the bookends trail project.
For cafe owner Mark Smith said getting the project completed will not only be exciting for the community but for him as well.
“Well it's great, I think it will be great for the community we're really community type place here," said Smith.
Main street bagels weren't the only ones donating money on Sunday Alpine Bank agreed to match the cafe's donations up to $12,500 and Browns Bicycle Shop also donated a portion of the day's sales to the project.
Mesa Land Trust still needs $58,000 to complete the $825,000 project that will connect the Riverfront Trail to the 63 acres of the Bookends.
